Film Festival

Liberty Media Productions in partnership with Better Days Studios hosts Betters Days Studios TV Film Festival to glorify God.

BACKGROUND HISTORY:

In November 2013, Dyonne embarked on the creation of a TV Talk Show pilot from her home. The pilot, titled The Dyonne Lewis Show, featured interviews with a diverse range of individuals, exploring their journeys from emotional “crash and burn” to “purpose-driven goals.”

By March 2014, Vision TV’s managing producer, Dominic Sciullo, took the reins and revamped the pilot into a compelling series. Dominic’s expertise injected new life into the show, resulting in a series of episodes that far exceeded expectations.

Importantly, Dyonne provided Dominic with two crucial elements: her unshakeable faith and a “Minimum Viable Version” of her creative vision. Under Dominic’s tutelage, Dyonne learned the best practices for long-form TV guest interviews, marking a transformative phase in the show’s evolution.

The journey began at the Zoomerplex in 2013, but to fully appreciate the story, one must rewind to 1986. In her teens, Dyonne reached out to Moses Znaimer, co-founder of CityTV, seeking a sit-down interview with the Hollywood North media mogul.

Fast forward 25 years, and Dominic Sciullo, mentored by Mr. Znaimer, championed the pilot episode of The Dyonne Lewis Show on VisionTV. The rest is history.

Choosing someone to narrate your life story is a significant decision. In this case, Dyonne entrusted her narrative to Dominic, blending her faith and a foundational vision. As the saying goes, control your own narrative. In January 2024 the festival was renamed: Better Days Studios TikTok Film Festival with a 2 to 3 minute length to keep up with the shrinking attention spans of social media platforms.

DREAM

Dyonne, named after Dionne Warwick and Bernadette Peters, was dissuaded from singing by her mother during her time at the Weist-Barron School of Television at the age of eleven. Despite the discouragement, Dyonne cherished a dream inspired by American live performing artist, Lola Falana whom Dyonne watched on TV when she was five years old—that enthralling moment proved an auspicious segment of television which shaped the course of Dyonne’s life.

Dyonne’s mother, Turnica, had prayed to God for her daughter to develop a love for reading. Franklin, Dyonne’s father, a skilled carpenter with aspirations of writing his life story despite academic challenges, played a significant role in shaping his daughter’s character–for the good, the bad and the ultimate high performance tendencies.

Being referred to as “my miracle baby” by her mother, Dyonne fulfilled her dream, and her mother’s prayer, as she grew up surrounded by the legacy of her father, Franklin. An only child, Dyonne found solace in books, her most faithful companions, which later guided her through the study of autobiographies and television shows like Moses Znaimer’s The Originals.

Armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a post-graduate certificate in Broadcast Journalism, Dyonne, akin to Joseph from the Bible, drew from pit experiences and palace visions to establish The Dyonne Lewis Show Film Festival. This festival serves as a tribute to her late parents, Mr. & Mrs. McGowan, marking the culmination of her educational and personal journey.
